Last night Chris and I (oh yeah, Chris is here visiting, btw) went to the Apple Store at Willow Bend Mall. We had decided to go up there just to look at the new iBooks and get Chris a job application… we had momentarily forgotten that Panther was going on sale. Well, we got there and it was madness! There was a ridiculously long line waiting to get into the store. They could only let in a certain number of people at a time! They were giving everyone tickets for door prizes, and we also signed up to win a new iMac. They were having a special where if you buy Panther, you get 10% off anything else. (We didn’t buy Panther, seeing as how I’m thinking of getting a new iBook eventually.) As people left the store they were giving away dogtags commemorating the “Worldwide Release” of Panther.
There were people in various Apple shirts, and lots of people carrying laptops. A few people even had camcorders. It was hilarious. One of the coupons they gave out was for 10% off at the Starbucks in the mall, and when we went down there to get drinks, there were a bunch of people sitting around the lounge area with their Powerbooks and iBooks out. Chris was like, “Wow, look at the LAN party.” Cracks me up.
So, yeah, I was with my peeps last night! (Well… *most* of them are my peeps. Some of them are just nerdy long-haired guys that need to stop playing Quake and get out more. Like the guys who were hitting on [correction: *trying* to hit on] the girl working at Starbucks. Sad, sad…)
Ok, so it might be closer to X-mas (no pun intended) before I get a new iBook, but that’s ok… that gives me time to wait and hear the reviews. (It is version one-point-oh after all.) I just have to get out of some more debt before I make any big purchases. Still paying off moving expenses… and Cingular billed me for two months this month. The bills keep piling up and it can get daunting… in November I start paying for car insurance, in January I start making car payments, in February student loan payments begin… and so on.
Well, I’m sitting in this silly class and they’re telling me to stop typing… I’d better go… >:-P
New G4 iBooks are out!! I am *so* getting one. I’d had my eye on a 12″ Powerbook but was going to have to wait a while to save up for it… but these guys are hella inexpensive. $1099… SHOOT. And with my education discount I can get it for only $999. And it comes with Panther. So awesome! I’ll have to wait until payday on the 1st, but I am so excited!!
The mascot of the school where I work is a panther. I would like to view that as a sign of good things to come. My principal has been receptive to the idea of buying a mobile cart of iBooks. However, if it happens, it’ll be at least next year, due to budget cuts, but that’s ok with me, as long as it happens…
Seriously… wherever I work next has got to be Mac-centric. I can’t stand this stifling PeeCee drudgery day in and day out!
It would have been much more effective if I had posted this *on* the 16th when I realized it, but anyway… I realized that the 16th marked two years ago when I saw REM at their free, “secret” show at the Georgia Theatre. Where does the time go?!
Geez, I’m just gonna stop doing real posts and just post these all the time… too amusing…

iTunes and the accompanying Music Store is now out for Windows… in the word’s of the Apple web site, “Hell froze over.” ;-) http://www.apple.com/itunes/
