December 2004
Considering yelladog’s recent ordeal, I am looking forward to this evening’s drive to Commerce even less than I normally would be. Plus it’s New Year’s, so more crazies than usual might be out (god, I sound like my Mom). I’m leaving in about an hour and a half… wish me luck surviving the perils of I-85. God I hate driving. :P

Effing New Year’s. You feel like something profound, climactic, meaningful should happen. But of course nothing does. It’s just another day. And, typically, a day when more assholes than usual are out in full force.
I have my doubts about whether we’ll be able to get into the Pylon show tomorrow night, as well as whether I’ll actually want to. We’ll go and assess the situation, and if it doesn’t pan out, we’ll find something else to do. Did I hear read someone mention there will be fireworks? Or did I imagine that?
Revised New Year’s Resolutions, 2005:
- More volunteer work.
- Meditate several days a week, OR
Take up yoga. (Bonus points if I do both.)
- Build a nice, big birdcage for my adorable little chickies (aka zebra finches).
- Finish all the changes to ASB.
- Dabble in Ruby.
- Have sex, OR
Don’t feel like a loser if I don’t.
My blog is entering its third year. I started it in April 2002. -I should really get the links to the olde blogge working again. Hey, let’s add one more thing to the New Year’s Resolutions list:
- Get the links to Ye Olde Blogge working again.
I’ll skip the usual speech about how much has changed since I first started my blog, or, more appropriately, how much has happened during the course of this year and how, this time last year, I had no idea I would be where I am now in a year’s time… etc. etc. ad nauseum. I’ll spare you. But I’m thinking it; you better believe that.
This is fantastic. (Credit where credit’s due: thanks to Nick for finding it… I decided to take a screenshot just in case it happens to up and disappear.)

I know we’ve got a few more days left in 2004, but I’m already contemplating my New Year’s Resolutions… here’s what I’ve come up with so far:
- More volunteer work.
- Meditate several days a week.
- Take up yoga.
- Build a nice, big birdcage for my adorable little chickies (aka zebra finches).
- Have sex, OR
Don’t feel like a loser if I don’t.
I’m going to be in Athens for New Year’s. Amy, Adrian, and I are going to rock that town. Anyone else?

Will be leaving Augusta soon, but it’s been a good Christmas… and I got to see two babies this weekend. :-) Chris and I are on our way to see Abby again this afternoon, too. Will post more later. In the meantime, here are some obligatory pictures that will probably be of no interest to anyone except the people in them…

I got my hair did today. It was supposed to be just a simple haircut, but it ended up taking almost an hour and a half. What can I say, the guy was meticulous. Anyway, I like my haircut a lot, but I’m not sure how I feel about the fact that he made it stick straight up. This is a look I probably could never recreate at home even if I wanted to, but… -well, I don’t know what my point was going to be. I don’t think it looks bad, just… different! I feel so P.R. (that’s “punk rock,” for the uninitiated).
Pictures:
[My hair's standing up! (1 - front)]
[My hair's standing up! (2 - side)] – iPhoto didn’t get out all the red-eye in this one, and I was right in the middle of starting to crack a smile, so I look kind of scary.
Well, I think I need to go lie down now, I’m really tired… having a middle-aged gay man fuss over you for 90 minutes will do that to a person.
(Bonus points if you can name the song reference in this entry.)

“If he’s not causing trouble, he’s making trouble.” (Said with no tone of irony.) WTF..?
Another entry is coming shortly after this one… just wanted to document that line before I forgot it. ;-)

At work, we have 2 options regarding transportation: pay $45 a month to park in the garage (which is supposed to be a deal because apparently the “regular” monthly rate is $90) or get a free MARTA card. My first month, I paid for parking, because I didn’t know about the free MARTA cards. But now I get the free MARTA card. However, my access card to get into the garage still works. So every once in a while, I — gasp! — drive to work. I only do it when there’s a good reason, and I’ve done it probably, oh, 5 or 6 times since April. But I always feel guilty anyway. Today was one such day. Several factors contributed to my decision to drive this morning: 1) It was 16 degrees and windy; 2) I’m still not 100% over my cold; 3) I was running late; and 4) I had a bunch of crap to carry with me. All legitimate reasons. Yet still, I am racked with guilt — and nervous that any day now, I’ll be approached by a Facilities manager demanding to know who the hell I think I am. So anyway, I guess this can be considered my penance for my illegal parking.
Now, off to buy supplies for tomorrow night’s Napoleon Dynamite screening party!
