This is one of my favorite pictures of “the three musketeers”:

This was taken at my high school graduation. June 6, 1998, like the datestamp on the picture says. (I think Jenny and Niki’s graduation was a week later.) Wow… 6½ years ago. I feel old. (Yes, I am holding cash money in my left hand.)
I’m feeling retrospective (can you use that word that way?) and introspective tonight. Just felt like taking this picture out of its frame (it usually lives on my nightstand) and scanning it.

Ugh! That’s a terrible picture of me! (And I hate saying that, because it sounds like such an insecure female thing to say.) But I will say, that I think I look a million times better than that now. (I think the hair is part of it… Well, that and the weight loss.) We look so young, especially Thorvig. [Sigh] I feel old.
Portland is awesome. Just got back from dinner with friends. My meal included Hungarian mushroom soup. Crazy.
You don’t like that picture? Perhaps you would prefer this one… or this one. Mwahaha…
Seriously though… I think it’s good of all of us. I do agree that you look smashing now, Niki, but I don’t think you looked bad circa ‘98 either.
Speaking of the fact that you look smashing… remember, you have to show me how to properly spike up my hair. I need your tutelage!
You think you feel old? I graduated from college in 1998!
HAHA! I actually think I like those pictures better! I look so decisive in them. (There’s an old school [no pun intended] inside joke for you.)
And don’t think I don’t have similar ones of you, Rhea! I’ve got the goods.
You know, I almost named that second picture niki-decisive.jpg instead of niki-seductive.jpg.
And are you saying you have a picture of me being decisive? I don’t think I remember it! Oh wait… I have a vague memory of some sort of collage you made for Thorvig, with pictures of all three of us giving beckoning looks to the camera.
Which reminds me of a hilarious memory… when you and Jenny came to visit me when I was working at the calendar kiosk at the mall… I look up, and there you are on the upper level, “accidentally” dropping your keys and bending to pick them up.
I must give props to PDX airport, which offers free WiFi. Portland is such a progressive city.
I deny involvement with any so-called “key incident.”
Amber, Niki, Jenny… wow, I’ve been feeling introspective lately too, so I had to look you guys up. :) Drop me a line sometime, I’m in DC!
Dipika Jain! Hey, I was going to look you up, because I heard you were in DC. I’m moving there in just a few days. And Jenny and Amber are coming to DC for a few days in February. I’ll drop you an e-mail today.
heard, eh? that grapevine, it sure is strong. :) can’t wait to see everyone!
