Found it here. Seems like it should really be two memes - one with the “10 years ago/5 years ago/etc.” and the other with the “5 things” questions. But that didn’t stop me from answering them all! I ramble, as usual. (I am also reminded, yet again, of my Bio page which painfully needs to be updated.)
10 years ago: I’d just gotten home from my third year at TIP. It was fun as usual - and if nothing else, it was an escape from the town, school, and home life where I felt like an outsider. But Kate and I had had a falling out with our mutual friend Sarah, and drama was abounding. It was the summer between 9th & 10th grade. I was awkward, depressed, lonely, and yearning to escape from all the shit in which I was mired. I’d gotten my first computer a few months prior - a Mac Performa 635CD. I would get AOL a few months later. It was version 2.5 and they charged by the hour.
5 years ago: I’d just finished my first semester at UGA. I was working at the Computer Science lab and thoroughly enjoying the time it afforded me to work on homework for my political science independent study course - not to mention hanging out with nerds. Chris and I were living together in cramped “one bedroom” apartment (really a studio, but they’d put up a fake wall to give the illusion of living room and bedroom). We’d bought tangerinecs.com a few months prior and built our own server to host it. We were planning our wedding.
1 year ago: Two degrees, an almost-complete divorce, and a move to Texas and back later… Been in Atlanta for almost 4 months. Still getting settled into the city and my job. Still working through a lot of personal shit. Getting ready to go visit Niki in Vegas. Hey, you can even read the posts from last July, how ’bout that!
Yesterday: Worked. Went to Houlihan’s with Ryan. Helped Cari (formerly Chris) move some stuff to her new house, and picked up some of my stuff that she’d been keeping for me at her old place. Cari and I picked up Krystals for dinner and ate while driving around the Candler Park/Lake Claire area. Stayed up too late chatting online.
Today: Put out fires at work. Had lunch with Joseph. We had a conversation that went something like this:
Amber: So, Joeventures called me this morning to see if I was free for lunch. And I felt like it made me look like some kind of damn social butterfly, because I told him I already had lunch plans, and with another blogger, at that.
Joseph: Well, when you’re an A-list Atlanta blogger, your schedule is pretty packed.
A: Are we A-list Atlanta bloggers?
J: Well, I’m not.
A: Pssh! I’m not either!
J: Who would be?
[... speculation ensues ...]
The day isn’t over yet so I don’t know what else I did.
Tomorrow: Work. (My life is exciting, eh?) Trivia at the ‘Shroom. Go to bed at a decent hour because I have to get up for jury duty Thursday morning.
5 snacks I enjoy: Dole fruit/gelatin cups (peaches in strawberry gel), cubed watermelon, Milky Way Midnight, Breyer’s strawberry blended yogurt, Publix potato salad
5 bands/artists that I know the lyrics of MOST of their songs: R.E.M., Liz Phair, U2, Violent Femmes, Billy Joel
5 things I would do with $100,000,000: pay off my student loans and other debts, pay off my friends’ student loans, give a shit ton of it to good charities and non-profits, travel around the world, do whatever the fuck I want
5 locations I’d like to run away to: Florence, Vienna, Amsterdamn, Washington DC, Australia
5 bad habits I have: cracking my knuckles, procrastinating, second-guessing myself, fucking up my nail polish because I get too impatient to let it dry completely, staying up too late
5 things I like doing: reading, programming (for fun and/or profit - ideally both), laughing heartily at good comedy, fucking, sleeping
5 things I would never wear: kitten heels, thong underwear, duct tape, dangly earrings, panties with built-in GPS tracking
5 TV shows I like: The Daily Show, Scrubs, Law and Order SVU, Mr. Show, Seinfeld
5 Movies I like: Big Lebowski, Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Fight Club, Lost in Translation
5 famous people I’d like to meet: Albert Einstein, Margaret Sanger, Liz Phair, Tim Berners-Lee, Eric Meyer (he’s famous in my book! and I almost did meet him!)
5 biggest joys at the moment: living in a city that feels like home, living ITP and close enough to work that I can walk there, knowing that my friends are out there and I can always count on them, fucking, sleeping
5 favorite toys: iBook, iPod, RSS, Technorati, my remote lock/unlock car key (yes, I found a spare deep within the drawer of my bedside table!)
I’m supposed to tag 5 people. So uh… David, Patrick, sangeet, Jenny, Niki (the latter two of whom will have to answer in email or a comment). And whoever else wants to do it, goddammit.

Don’t look at me!
Kick ass…metions of Office Space, Fight Club, Mr. Show(”Look they’ve blown up the Earth.”"Fucking consumers.”), and R.E.M..
GPS panties!?!? Yeah maybe we don’t deserve to survive as a culture.
I met Liz Phair. She signed my “Chicks With Attitude” Tour VIP pass that I bought from a scalper, and she leaned in to me in that way that chicks do when then kinda lean in and your elbow is right between their breasts. Yeah, like that.
It was pretty cool.
I think it would be funny if some woman who had been bought a pair of GPS panties stuck them on a goat in a field somewhere, and then moved her ass out on her own. I can just imagine some jerk control freak driving to the field and then staring slack-jawed at the goat wearing his wife’s (gfs, whoever’s) GPS panties.
The Publix potato salad does rock. As does their macaroni salad, colby jack cheese spread and spinach and artichoke dip.
