I bought the following books tonight at Barnes and Noble:
- Everything You Know About Sex Is Wrong - which includes a piece written by Dacia (it’s weird to me that she’s basically famous at this point). I’ve been looking forward to reading this book for a while now; should be very interesting.
- Every Man’s Marriage. Yes, another one in the series. What can I say, I must be some kind of masochist. This’ll be my next book review.
Needless to say, I got an odd look - however fleeting, it was there - from the girl at the check-out counter.

Be sure to tell us what all those “misconceptions about what it means to exercise biblical authority” are!
Really, I prefer to be called “infamous.” But seriously folks, where’s my big pile of money?
Why did you pay full price for that second book?
Because, I’m a masochist, and possibly stupid as well! What of it?? GOSH!
First: “There’s something deeply disturbing about their obsession…”
Now: “Yes, another one in the series. What can I say, I must be some kind of masochist. This’ll be my next book review.”
Hmmmm……
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Eat my contradictory ass.
I’m running a blog, goddammit, not a democracy.
It’s got nothing to do with “democracy”, Amber. I mean, your blog certainly isn’t a democracy, but whose is? What I think Russ is getting at is that your blog isn’t a “logocracy,” either. :-)
Though in some other sense, it clearly is a Logocracy, as even those who don’t care about logic still live, move, and have their being in the Logos. (I’m attempting a Charlesian turn on language here, which is to say that I’m just a little “weird” this morning).
Actually I’m going to write a post that’s a lengthier and at least mostly-serious answer to Russ’s thinly veiled attempt to “get” me. Just gimme a minute.
Not trying to “get” you at all…just big on Arsenio Hall and I miss “Things that make you go ‘Hmmmm.’”
Obsessions are generally unreasonable. Amber made the accusation toward the book’s authors; I offer no opinion on that at this time. Amber’s penchant for deconstructing the books in this series seems pretty rational and reasonable to me.
