The carnival is coming!

The 19th Carnival of Feminists is now up at Figure: Demystifying the Feminist Mystique. Which reminds me…

On August 16th, I’ll be hosting the 21st Carnival of Feminists here at my humble little blog. I’m the lucky gal who gets to take it out and get it drunk!

Here are some ideas I’ve got floating around for topics:

  • Women and technology - female geeks, embracing your particular flavor of nerditude, being a woman in a male dominated industry, why is it still seen as “a guy thing,” etc.
  • Regardless of whether you ID as sex-positive: what does “sex-positive” mean to you? ie, what do you think of when you hear that term? Update: I would like to expand/amend this suggestion to include something more along the lines of, “Describe your particular brand of feminism.”
  • The role of male allies in feminism - can we ever get past the whole “patriarchy” thing? Is this the same or different from white allies in the civil rights movement, straight allies in the LGBT rights movement, etc.

Or, of course, anything else you want to write about!

Email submissions to me at amber [at] tangerinecs [dot] com. It would be helpful if you put “Carnival of Feminists” in the subject line.

Do you think all women should try feminism at least once?

  2. Thomas says:

Will there be funnel cake at this carnival?

  3. Amber says:

Of course not. What a silly question. Everyone knows funnel cake is a tool of the patriarchy.

  4. valeko says:

That and, funnel cake might distract you from feminism.

If you do get it drunk, make sure to take compromising pictures. That way, we can blackmail it when it wins a congressional seat.
