“A young woman was arrested on prostitution charges in February. She was mentioned by name in the article (both printed and online) and apparently was lucky enough to get featured on the local evening news. Two weeks ago, she killed herself.”

“The Bush administration on Thursday attacked a congressional bill that would help protect the First Amendment rights of news gathers, including bloggers and podcasters.”

Ha!! Oh FFS. The Internet is KILLING OUR CULTURE. And it’s going to eat our children, too. This is some of the best high-minded handwringing I’ve heard in a while… and it’s all so *familiar*, too. (Via Joseph.)

She quotes me in this article. I don’t actually remember saying the thing she attributes to me, but it sounds like something I *would* say.

Amber, hi. You made that casual comment at my first (and so far only) NetSquared meeting; that was shortly after Podcamp. It resonated with me because - as a new player in the blogsphere and Social Media - I’d been wondering how people can spend seemingly all their time online and still have the fulfilling face-to-face part of life. For me, I like the 50-50 mix but probably wouldn’t have had the courage initially to come right out and claim it! Cheers.
I had a feeling it was from the Netsquared meeting! I vaguely recall saying something like that, I just didn’t remember the 50/50 thing. But I like it when I say something smart and don’t even realize it. ;)
