Twitter updates for 2007-11-09

  • I saw a white dove this morning. I thought it was a white mourning dove, but is there even such a thing? I can’t find any photos online. #
  • Annoyed with annoying people #
  • Emo hold music #
  • Incompetence from corporate benefits management people. "You should have got that already." "I know, that’s why I’m calling." #
  • Repeating it again: I’m not adding anyone as a friend on Facebook who I don’t actually know. #
  • @ramsey – No, but it certainly didn’t make me any happier w/ the people I was calling to complain at. #
  • Removed Facebook ‘Top Friends’ app agian. I am so fickle. #
  • Eating candy. Hoping to go home within the hour. #
  • Annoyed that HR messed up some stuff but deciding to put it on the proverbial shelf ’til Monday #
  • Leaving work. Going home to do what, I’m not sure. Maybe unpack some boxes? #
  • At home, trying to decide what to have for dinner. Google Docs is acting weird. #
  • WTF. Now Flickr Importr won’t open. Rebooting. This is not supposed to happen on a Mac. :P #

Could have been an albino mourning dove – ?

I feel as though I should make this comment more interesting somehow. Ummmmmm…yeah, I’m just boring right now.

Or, it could have been some kind of symbol! What do white doves symbolize? Peace and love, right? Not death?

And don’t worry about making your comment more interesting. Sometimes, I feel like I should make my whole damn blog more interesting. Apparently some people think automatic Twitter posting is a cop-out.

:) Somehow it is peace and love…though I’m not sure how you get “peace” out of the Biblical references.

The first (at least big one) is how Noah releases a dove once the rain has stopped after the flood (and they’re still stranded on their massive wooden yacht + zoo). The dove returns with an olive branch, indicating, “Dude! There’s land somewhere amidst all this water! I’m not gonna show you where, but it’s out there. Good luck!” Somehow, this comes to represent peace? I can see hope or life or something, but peace seems like a bit of a stretch.

The second (at least big) Biblical reference is when Jesus gets baptized (by John the Baptist – can we talk about the number of foolish Baptists who think that John was the first member of their version of Christianity…ah, gleeful disabusing of naïveté). According to…at least a few of the gospels, the holy spirit appears “like a dove” when John baptizes Jesus and affirms/approves Jesus as the son of God. So…again, peace seems a bit of a stretch to me. The dove could be God or the messenger of God (a bit of competition for Jesus, perhaps, or maybe just an angel), but…the whole “peace” extrapolation doesn’t make much sense to me. :-)

Welcome to Bible Stories with Jennifer. Or rather, Bible Stories with what Jennifer remembers from 20 years of trying to be a good little Christian, but happily moving on 7 years ago.

Sorry – is all of this common knowledge?

Anyway, per the Twitter posting – I don’t know if it’s a cop-out, but it’s different and we seem hardwired to oppose change. :-) Whatevah. It’s your blog.
