Awesome coverage! Thanks so much for doing this for all of us who couldn’t attend. Your multitasking skillz awe me. :)

I admire the conference for the session, but, as noted, there are so many issues tied to sex work…

IMO, the main issue is really to get the general society (education, media, etc.) to discuss sex in general. How can we expect people to understand “sex work” when they don’t understand & accept sex. Hey, it’s at least half the phrase, right?

While book publishers can’t get a press release on a human sexuality book distributed ~ for fear of reaction/retaliation ~ well, what can we really expect when it comes to issues already deemed illegal? Don’t we need to start at the very foundation ~ with acceptance, by the general public, of sex itself?

In that context, I’ve been arguing for real sex education in this country.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this liveblog. I was not able to attend WAM! this year, but this was a conversation that I was very interested in. I was also following the very interesting exchange in the WAM! ning community that occurred prior to this panel.

Anyhow - although I missed the richness and detail of this conversation, it’s great to see the notes to get an overview! So - THANKS! Hope you enjoyed WAM!

    Hi!
I’m just googling WAM. I’m not a blog reader regularily so I’m REALLY being exposed to how vast it is. SOOO many people were blogging live and there are all these recaps and reviews of panels and videos I can show my friends.

I was the one who made the comment at 4:41.

Also, my friend and I talked about the BS of that Swedish model thing after. We were glad you said what you did.

This is my first blog comment. Geez, I feel like such a newbie. I swear I use the internet, and I guess blogs too if LJ counts.

[...] Dacia’s session in particular was amazing. An entire hour and a half of conversation about sex work and the media, without devolving into the same old pro/anti bullshit. It was a smart move on Dacia’s part to lay out some ground rules at the beginning of the session; I think that’s a big part of what made the session actually productive. And, a cool new project that’s already got a lot of interest came out of it: Sex Work 101 (as mentioned here). [...]
