I cannot tell you how many times I have had a similar exchange with some dude. My reaction has gone from flustered to outraged to nonplussed and now to a feeling I can describe only as, “Would you prefer to be kicked in the pants, or the head? Here, just sign on the dotted line.”

Said like someone who has never been yelled at by aggressive and creepy people, particularly in groups.
I remember once when I was still an undergrad, and I was out jogging one afternoon, and I had the misfortune of running past one of the frat houses while four guys were hanging out drinking and being idiots. As I jogged down the street, one of them started yelling shit at me. I ignored the first two comments, but when he yelled out something about my being “a fag”, I shot back “What, are you looking for a date? Not my type.” When his three friends stood up and jumped off the porch into the yard and started yelling “Hey, come back and say that to his face” that I realized “Shit, I’ve been running for a mile and a half, and I’m tired, and there are four of them, and they’re drunk, angry, and haven’t been running for a mile and a half.”
And I realize that I get to count myself unlucky amongst men in that it happened to me once.
