I’m not saying where this came from, but I hate headlines like this: “Quick Breakfasts That Kids and Dads Can Prepare.”
Kids, sure. But dads? Come on. Way to infantilize grown men.
It’s so simple! Even dad can do it! Because he’s not much smarter than a trained monkey!
(If I had a screenshot of the headline, it would get the FAIL stamp.)

Ugh, that crap pisses me off.
I feel the same way about the Stanley Steemer commercial that says “…between kids… pets… and husbands, how are you supposed to keep everything clean?”
A) Like you, I can understand the kids/pets angle, but WTF with husbands? (It shows a husband unable to keep a cover on a blender and contents spewing everywhere.)
B) Why does it assume that it’s the woman’s responsibility to keep everything clean?
Argh.
I know! I remember seeing that commercial once and thinking the same thing.
And even in that commercial, I was like, who lets their kids and pets run around the house like that? Jesus! If I ever have kids they sure as hell are NOT going to act like that - not more than once, anyway, because punishment will be swift and memorable. And ask me again why I don’t have a dog (among the myriad reasons…)
I would love, for once, to see a commercial where it’s the man talking about why a certain dishwashing detergent is so great, or shaking his head at his ne’er-do-well but lovable wife who basically behaves like a 2-year-old.
Or, actually what I would really love is for all commercials with a gendered angle that relies on one partner being a complete slob who can barely dress themselves to go away, but ya know, in the meantime why not flip that shit around for once? I thought we lived in the 21st century, but maybe I was wrong.
I’ve always hated the “Men R Goobers” attitude so prevelant in ads today. What is that supposed to be telling my 4 sons?
oh yeah- I just remembered. Ikea has a commercial where the woman is floundering around trying to get ready, and the man hands her keys, jacket, etc, because he has a super organized Ikea closet.
Oh, those Scandinavians!
