“She was really weird, she talked about sex all the time.”

I've recently been accused of being that girl too. I'm not, and I had great fun teasing the person who said it about how often she talks about sex, attraction and the like. The difference is that if you're talking about straight, vanilla stuff it's not sex, it's not vulgar or anything, it's just...what, exactly? It's people who mention alternatives, even the most innocent 'it exists' aspect of something like queerness or sex work or kink, who are Talking About Sex.

[I feel kinda bad now because I had no idea how much stuff was going on for bloggers in/around Atlanta. But I am still kinda stuck up here in Canton, anyways. ><]

I always get eyes rolled at me if I object to a hoker joke. "Don't be so serious!" I want to remove their eyeballs and stamp on them.

Blanche Debris,
Not at all! I'm talking about people who are like, "Blogging is so stupid, bloggers are lame, why do they think I want to read about their boring lives, I used to think blogging was cool but now I see how lame it is..." blah blah blah.

Elisa,
Thanks for stopping by! I will email you.

Ren,
Not just acceptable, but encouraged! :)

Well, we probably won't have hooker jokes at BlogHer!

Anyway, I've started working on the reach Out Tour programming, and we're featuring local speakers whenever and wherever possible in each city.

So if you propose a panel that addressed this intersection, this whole identity that even includes being a sexual being...what would it look like?

Because I was kind of counting on hanging out with you again :)

I guess I'm one of those "too-cool-for-school" assholes you must have in mind. ;p

My *personal* issues with blogging (not blogging per se) have to do with how much I feel the need to self-censor, lest the blog bite me in the ass (example, I've been fired over a MySpace profile). Blogging would be much more fun, for me, if I felt I could say whatever I want without losing jobs, friends, etc.

I think it's awesome, and admirable, that you have the freedom in your personal/work life, though, to show your picture on your blog, use your real name, and talk about the things you do, like -- gasp -- sex and sex work.
