A year in pictures, part II

Since I love photography and I’ve been behind the camera quite a bit this year, I thought I’d do another version of the “year in pictures” meme. For this round, I chose one of my favorite photos from each month based on artistic/”slice of life” quality. It was really hard to narrow things down to just one photo from some months - especially December! But I did it.

If the location isn’t explicitly stated, it’s safe to assume the photo was taken in or near Atlanta.

Without further ado, here it is… (Again, this isn’t friendly to folks on slow connections. My apologies and such.)

A year in pictures

I decided to take Rusty’s idea and run with it. I probably got a little carried away, but hey, I like photos. You’ll notice I only posted photos of positive/happy/fun occasions - not because I’m trying to rewrite history, but because I think it’s important to focus on the good. As such, you won’t see any photos of the crappy old apartment and related drama, the Platinum Stages pole saga, or other stupidities of 2007. This is a retrospective of all the good stuff that happened this year!

Also, this is not a post that will be kind to folks on slow connections. I’ve placed the photos below the cut (as they say on LiveJournal); you’ve been warned!

Hitting the road

We’re heading to Augusta for a few days. We’ll also be doing another excursion to small Georgia towns for photos and exploring. Not sure how much I’ll be on the computer over the next few days, but before the year is over I will put up a 2007 In Pictures post, following the meme Rusty started!

Also, remember to call 678.389.9441 if you have anything for our end-of-year podcast!

End of year podcast coming soon: leave a message, we’ll play it!

I am just going to copy Rusty’s post word for word here…

Mostly ITP

The end of another year is coming soon, which means another end-of-year episode of Mostly ITP! Here’s last year’s episode.

We try not to get all PBS-beg-a-thon about asking people for participation in things, but it would be nice if y’all would leave some voicemails for us to play. Have a favorite episode? Have an episode that made you want to veer off the road into a telephone pole in disgust? Don’t listen to the show, but do a great impression of Charles Bronson baking a pie wearing nothing but an apron and a smile? We’d love to hear from you.

You can call and leave us voicemail at 678.389.9441, or you can leave a message on [Rusty's] Skype account at rustytanton.

Thanks!

Obligatory 2006 wrap-up

Here it is, my final post of 2006 (unless my typin’ fingers start to itch again between now and midnight, that is). No “Favorite posts of 2006″ this year. Sorry, I just can’t bring myself to run the SQL queries. I’m lazy.

I was happy to meet a lot of new, awesome blogfriends in 2006, mainly in the feminist ’sphere. Yeah, sure, there were the Great Blowjob Wars and all that hoo-hah, but really, in a way, that’s part of the fun. And I don’t mean that in a jackassy way like “Look how superior I am to all of this,” really.

2006 was, too, of course, the Year of the Podcast for Rusty and me. We launched the Georgia Podcast Network and have been going at full-speed ever since. I would say we’ve become minor (very minor) local celebrities, but again, I don’t want to sound like a jackass and I don’t want to jinx our good fortune!

Far too many friends, family members, and friends and family members of friends got sick or died this year… but I don’t want to talk about depressing stuff like that. Here’s hoping for fewer shitty events of that nature in 2007.

My new year’s resolutions are very boring. Really I only have one resolution: rinse with Listerine every day. See? Boring. I initially used “resolutions” in the plural, because I could’ve sworn I thought of another one a few days ago; but now I can’t remember what it was. Oh well… as my grandfather used to say, “must’ve been a lie.”

My 2007 goals are going to amateur night (as previously mentioned), and being more confident in general.

Events I’m looking forward to include BlogSavannah Un-Conference, SoCon07, and PodCamp Atlanta.

And, most of all? I’m looking forward to getting to spend another 365 days with Rusty. (Cue collective “awwww” or puking noise, depending on your disposition.)

Four years ago today, the shit hit the fan and I found out my husband was really a woman trapped in a man’s body, and everything fell apart and I honestly thought I would die. On my blog, I barely alluded to it (look up the entry for Dec. 31, 2002 if you’re curious). I kept on going as if nothing was wrong, or at least that was the appearance I gave the outside world. Well… four years later, let’s just say things are immensely better than I ever could have imagined, and for some reason now at this moment I feel all sappy and filled with looooove. I’m going to go grope the GDBF now.

Here’s a playlist* for New Year’s Eve. Stay away from those amateurs tonight, and have fun!
