A few notes

Ugh. Now I’m remembering why I hated Javascript so much in the first place. Can’t I just write CSS and server-side code all day instead?

In personal tech news, I ordered a new phone. It’s an LG CU500. It has a rotating camera lens, which will be good for my daily self portraits. I’m really looking forward to having a camera phone. Also, I might even Twitter from it! *gasp* Craziness, I know. I actually am becoming quite fond of Twitter. Guess I’d better check to make sure I have enough text message capacity on my phone plan… never thought I’d be one of the people concerned with that kind of thing!

Anyway, it’ll be nice but also weird to have a “new” gadget (I used quotation marks because I ordered a refurbished one). Every piece of hardware I own is at least 3 years old.

I’ve also added a few Republicans to my Twitter friends. What am I doing with my life. It’s like I don’t even know me anymore.

Moving along. I was planning to write another post about the whole “online bullying” thing and how it relates to IRL bullying/abuse/disenfranchisement, but what with all the links, quotes, and such I’ve posted over the past few days, and Take Back the Blog! coming up, I think I’ll save it for the 28th instead.

Okay, back to work and Javascript hell. (No hyperbole here, not at all!)

Poll

First posted on Twitter, and now posted here for wider reach…

Phones: Nokia 6126 vs. Sony Ericsson W810i - which one wins?

Input, please

More to come, but first…

  1. I’ll probably end up getting a camera phone fairly soon. I don’t need something super snazzy (read: expensive) but I don’t want a piece of crap either. Any recommendations?
  2. My blog’s fifth birthday is fast approaching. April 17 is the big day. It’s kind of painful, but I’m thinking that I may have finally outgrown - though I hesitate to use that word, but I can’t think of a better one - my homegrown blogging system. In commemoration of five years of blogging, should I move to WordPress? What do you think?

I need to blog about PodCamp NYC and general New York stuff, but that’ll have to come later. In the meantime read Rusty’s posts: PodCamp New York liveblogging and My renewed appreciation for the South. I have more to say on the anti-South bias topic. Suffice it to say for now, that shit pisses me off. No, it is not okay to stereotype Southerners, especially if you consider yourself “enlightened” or “progressive.”

Still waffling over whether to write a post about why I have heretofore not worked in the sex industry, and why I may yet need to do so, in some capacity. On a related note, I said somewhat smart stuff at Sherry’s MySpace blog.

And get a load of this, I am now using Twitter. You knew the day would come. We’ll see how long this fascination (of a sort) endures. Oh, and also? (Last thing, I swear). LibraryThing. Thanks, Dacia, for pointing me to a Web 2.0 thingy that appeals to both my J-preference and my literary nerdiness. YASP… that’s all I need.

What I Did Today

Today I pre-ordered Tiger from Amazon (they have a $30 rebate deal going on). It’s going to r0×0r. I also got hooked up with a sweet deal from Cingular for renewing my account… first of all, they “upgraded” my plan to one that has more minutes but is cheaper than my current plan. And they’re also sending me a free LG C1300 phone (’cause Lord knows my old Nokia has seen better days).
